The Future Preacher

My wife, Annie, had the opportunity to serve at the orphanage in the Dominican Republic for several years. During those trips, she got to know many of the boys, especially one named Paco. He was found abandoned in a park as a young boy and has special needs. Once Annie and I got married, I also had the opportunity to go to the DR with the High School Ministry (HSM) students.

I always look forward to seeing Paco. One thing Paco loves to do is preach. He would love to be a preacher. He walks around the orphanage preaching to the chickens or just to himself. One time he even wanted me to preach and he would translate it. The love he has for God is great and he wants to share that.

Paco’s speech is not clear. He is difficult to understand (especially for me since I don’t speak Spanish). Even though hardly anyone understands Paco, we love hearing him preach! I bet he is giving great sermons. I cannot wait till that day when I can understand him in heaven!

Esther

image

Esther is a far cry from the little scrawny girl who first arrived at Wonderful Calvary Home. Both her parents were killed in Cyclone Nargis so a former Buddhist who became a Christian missionary brought Esther to Wonderful Calvary Home. Today, she is a strong, healthy 3-year-old who loves to play and is surrounded by a strong community of brothers and sisters. A signature mark of mark is in her eyes: a twinkle.

By giving to ONE%, you help make Esther’s story possible – a story of hope and overcoming despair. Give to ONE% here and consider sponsoring a child like Esther here through Calvary Global Kids.

Moses Bawi Nun Thar

Moses’ parents died when he was 6-months-old. The owner of the field where Moses’ father worked sent Moses to Myanmar Agape Orphanage. When he arrived, Moses was severely malnourished. Bones protruded from taunt skin covered in scabs. Despite the doctor’s hopeless prognosis, the orphanage staff prayed for a miracle. And God healed Moses. Today, he’s an active 10-year-old who loves to play soccer and dreams of being a teacher.

When you give to ONE% you are helping children like Moses write a new story of hope. If you would like to personally sponsor Moses or another child like him go to  Calvary Global Kids.
